Nokia Launches Nokia Lumia 920 With Windows Phone 8 OS

In the stiff competition from its rivals, Nokia has fallen far behind. Once market leader is now struggling to retain its day by day falling market share. To remain in main stream and to give fight to iPhone and Android smartphones, Nokia is offering some exceptional product series to the targeted market.

In its Lumia series, last week Nokia has launched yet another phone called Nokia lumia 920 in New York. Let us see what the company is offering us by this device.

Display and Design

As far as design is concern the device is at par with its predecessor Lumia 800 and Lumia 900. The Nokia Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ touchscreen display with 1280 x 768 resolutions. It features a Corning Gorilla Glass, Super sensitive touch and an Aspect ratio of 15:9.

Operating System and Processor

One of the important features is that it works on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system. This is an exceptional feature of Nokia Lumia 920. Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung GALAXY Note 2 Coming to AT&T

The hotly anticipated Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are expected to make their entrance on the smartphone market in the following weeks.

Although we don't have exact release dates announced by either of the handset makers, it looks like the folks at BGR have been able to confirm with a trusted source that both Lumia 920 and Galaxy Note 2 will arrive at AT&T on October 21.

That goes in line with Samsung's CEO, JK Shin, who mentioned at IFA 2012 trade fair that the Galaxy Note 2 won't be launched on the market earlier than October.

However, we're not sure how Nokia will be able to launch its flagship smartphone in late October, especially given the latest rumors that indicate Microsoft has still a lot to work on Windows Phone 8.

The only thing that's certain is the fact that both handsets will face fierce competition from Apple's iPhone, which is set to arrive one month earlier.

It will be interesting to see how well Lumia 920 and Galaxy Note 2 will fare against the iPhone 5, though it's really surprising that all three smartphones will be available for purchase through the same carrier.

None of the US-based carriers have been able to sign exclusive rights for the sale of any of the three smartphones, which can only benefit customers.

This means that most customers won't have to submit to long term contract with operators they hate, as all three smartphones are likely to be available from most leading carriers in the US.

iPhone 5 has already been confirmed at Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and Cricket, but other network operators in the country might pick the smartphone in the following week as well. Sorry T-Mobile USA customers, but the iPhone 5 will most certainly not come on the carrier's airwaves.

Ligtning adapters to 30-pin for iPhone 5 Valued at $ 29 USD

So, we know that the iPhone 5 will come with a different connector than what we’re used to seeing. However, if you have some devices with a 30-pin connector laying around, the iPhone 5′s new Lightning connector is probably going to cause some problems. That’s where Apple‘s new adapters come in – they were detailed earlier today at Apple’s event, but the company didn’t talk pricing while it was up on stage.

Prices for these adapters have now surfaced on Apple’s website, however you’re going to have to hand over some cash to get one. The regular old Lightning to 30-pin adapter is going to set you back $29, whereas if you want a Lightning to 30-pin adapter with a 0.2 meter (about 8 inches) cable, you’ll have to shell out $39. Apple also has a Lightning-USB cable to connect your shiny new iDevice to your Mac or PC available for $19.

The prices on the Lightning adapters seem a little on the high end, but to be fair, the price of the Lightning-USB cable is the same price as the old 30-pin to USB cable was – $19. Apple is probably going to get a few complaints about those $29 and $39 price tags, but it looks like you’ll be stuck paying up if you have a 30-pin device you’d like to connect to your iPhone 5. These new adapters and cables are compatible with the iPhone 5, the 5th generation iPod Touch, and the 7th generation iPod Nano, but Apple warns on the listings for the adapters that they won’t support all 30-pin devices.

Which devices are being left unsupported is currently a mystery. All three are available for purchase now, and while the Lightning-USB cable appears to be shipping immediately, the two adapters won’t be shipping until sometime in October.
